Deaconess Ministry

Description: The Deaconess Ministry is a vital component of caring for the members of the congregation. They assist the pastor and deacons in assessing the spiritual needs of the church.

Bible Study Ministry

Overseer/ Teacher: Pastor Bryan Crawl

Description: Bible study is held every Wednesday from 6:00-7:00 pm. Bible study’s purpose is sound biblical instruction in accordance with 2 Tim. 3:16, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine (what is right), for reproof (what is not right), for correction (how to get right), for instruction (how to stay right) in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (NKJV).

Sunday School Ministry

Superintendent: Deacon Anthony Whitted

Sunday School Description: The Sunday School ministry is a vital component of Christian education and therefore spiritual growth and becoming a disciple of Christ. The SBC Sunday School starts at 8:45 am every week with classes that meet the needs of all age groups.
The Sunday School Superintendent assesses the needs of the church and develops classes and seeks out curriculum to meet the needs of the church. The SSS also supervises and assigns teachers as needed.

Ushers Ministry

Description: The usher’s ministry is a vital component of the services of the SBC and who’s responsibilities consist of maintaining order and giving direction during church services.

Men’s Fellowship

Description: The Men’s fellowship meets once a month and provides an environment for men to honestly and openly discuss and challenge each other in the issues that are confronting Christian men in today’s society.

Women’s Ministry/ Sister’s Fellowship

Description: The Women’s Ministry meets once a month and provides a platform for women to discuss issues that affect Christian women. Women in this group address issues that affect Christian women biblically and support one another through loving relationships.

Youth Ministry

Description: The Youth Ministry is a very important and vital ministry of the Second Baptist Church as we view our youth as the church of today. This ministry consists of Youth Church (three Sunday’s a month during regular service) designed especially for the youth and their needs. And Youth Sunday (Every 4th Sunday), where the service is centered on the development of our youth and young adults.

Service Guild

Description: The Service Guild Ministry was organized in 1940 as a mission-oriented organization with the motto, “Be of service wherever needed.” This ministry celebrates an annual anniversary the 3rd Sunday in March during which time it recognizes the services it has provided for over 80 years. These services include providing care for the sick and elderly, donating financially to church ministries, assisting wherever needed in the church, providing health prevention seminars and information, supplying of Daily Word pamphlets etc. The goal of this vital church ministry is service wherever needed.

Newsletter Ministry

Description: The Second Baptist Newsletter is published once a month and is distributed on the first Sunday of the month. The Newsletter contains and monthly article from the pastor and all upcoming events in the church and community at large.

Small-Group Ministries

Small-Group Coordinator: Minister Geneva Short

Description: The Small Group Coordinator is responsible for the supervision of all small groups and ensures that each groups purpose is the support of the SBC’s mission. Discipleship and service is the goal of each small group.

NA/AA Group

Description: This ministry provides SBC member support for those who struggle with addiction through biblical principles.

Small Group Leaders/ Facilitators: Joette Edwards, Yolanda Bryant

First Year Mentors

Description: This ministry provides mentors to new converts/ new members to assist their transition into membership of the SBC. The goal is that the new members are assimilated fully as a member of the SBC and has made successful connections through small and large group ministry.
This group is headed by the pastor.

RCFL

Description: Rochester Family Life is a 501c3 and is committed to the Rochester community and is the outreach arm of the SBC in its efforts to preach the gospel to all the earth (Matthew 28:19-20).
